Students describe health and safety issues of a crashed tanker using Comic Life app

Following the introduction of the new module “How do we clean up after a crashed tanker?”, a group of Year 8 students undertook a search engine race to explore the dangers of a crashed tanker to local people, the immediate area and the wider environment. Now primed with this knowledge, the students worked collaboratively to produce an information sheet using Comic Life by describing the issues surrounding tanker crash, explaining hazard symbols supported by images and their own annotations.

The students worked efficiently with the iPads to carry out the task, which may not happened if the traditional “paper poster” alternative was employed as the students were more engaged with the task and were keen to develop their skills as it was the first time for many to use Comic Life.
